My Story
With over 31 years of professional experience, Joanne O’Carroll is a highly trusted grey blending specialist and the stylist behind The EffortlessBlend™️ Journey, her signature approach to softer regrowth and lower maintenance hair.
Joanne began her career more than three decades ago, working across both salon and mobile hairdressing, with over 20 years spent building loyal, long term client relationships. Throughout her career, she worked in just three salons, a reflection of her commitment to stability, trust, and doing things properly.
Many of her clients have been with her since the very beginning. In 2017, after becoming a mum for the second time, Joanne stepped away from the traditional salon model to work solely for herself. Shortly afterwards, her husband built a private garden salon at their Birmingham home. This allowed Joanne to create a calm, one to one environment where time, attention, and thoughtful consultation are central to every appointment.
As her clients began navigating greying hair, Joanne noticed a consistent and frustrating pattern. Traditional approaches, particularly pushing clients lighter or blonde, were not delivering the freedom they were promised. Instead, they created harsher regrowth, frequent root appointments, and a constant cycle of maintenance. EffortlessBlend™️ was created to change that.
Rather than covering or fighting grey hair, Joanne’s EffortlessBlend™️ approach works with each client’s natural grey pattern, diffusing regrowth and creating a softer, more intentional result that grows out beautifully. It is not about going fully grey unless that is what the client wants. It is about creating a balanced middle ground where hair feels polished, low maintenance, and true to the woman wearing it.
